Debating whether to return
Nothing you can't get for free on Code Academy and other similar coding/programing sites. This software also won't work with some browsers or privacy setting modes with the ability to thwart data mining, invasive analytics and tracking.

Great for STEM Homeschool!
By Shiv Coupons
As a homeschooling mom of 2, I am always looking to expand our learning with hands on experience. My son is a huge fan of coding websites online and has become obsessed with learning to code his own website. I purchased Simply Coding Intro to Websites because I thought it would be a good tool for a parent that knows nothing to use to teach a child who knows (virtually) nothing about coding a website.
This software comes in a simple box, containing a code card that allows you to register and log in online to Simply Coding's website and a booklet explaining how to utilize the software. It was very simple to understand, so much so, that I did not have to help my son during this process. He was able to simply read the instructions and follow them.
I very much liked the simple process of registering/accessing the lesson. I like that children could log in/out at their leisure and pick up where they left off. I liked that children could repeat a lesson if they couldn't recall the previous information or became confused. I like that as a complete coding/website novice, I was able to jump in and assist my child without having to study or do the lesson along side him. Each lesson contains clear, simple to read content, examples and activities to challenge the newly learned content. I like that they offer live chat(during business hours) to help, in case you are more of a hands off parent.
I will say that I expected more graphics/interactive content for a children's program. My son has sensory and attention issues and has a hard time concentrating on things that are heavily linguistic. It didn't keep him from working or completing the program, but just meant that he had to work on it in portions, day by day as his attention span allowed. He was able to handle 1-3 chapters a day and it took a total of 5-7 days for him to complete the program. There aren't that many chapters, but once he began the text editor, he spent more time "perfecting" his site, lol. If your child is a great reader and doesn't have issues with attention span then this shouldn't be a problem, these are just our personal challenges I wanted to share in case others have the same special circumstances.
In summary, this program makes a great addition to our curriculum and gives us valuable STEM credit!

Coding translates to success in other areas
By Ronald Berry
In today’s digital world, coding is a fundamental skill alongside math and reading, but too few kids have the opportunity to learn to program because it is rarely taught in school. This program creates a fun and engaging platform where children not only learn to program, but also have opportunities to be creative using code. From self-driving cars to robot-assisted surgery to social media, computer science is revolutionizing every aspect of our lives. Coding is a fundamental skill that children need to learn so they can lead this movement. They can create projects that do really amazing things. It is incredibly empowering for children to be able to create projects and show them off to family and friends.
Coding is best learned early. Learning to code is similar to learning a second language. The earlier that children are exposed to fundamental topics like sequencing, loops, and conditionals, the more deeply they absorb these concepts. Coding translates to success in other areas. Learning to program supports learning in other areas, like math, reading, and science.
I gave this to my nephew, he is 11 and home schooled because he is bored and not challenged in the local schools. He loves this, it is like a game to him. It amazed me how fast he got it and was doing so much more than I could ever do.
